Before we dive into the festive fun, it’s worth taking a moment to note the incredible location that makes this event truly special. Nestled on the edge of Hobsons Bay, Seaworks Williamstown is not just another market venue — it’s a cornerstone of Melbourne’s maritime history.

Once the operational heart of the Port of Melbourne, this impressive industrial site has been thoughtfully restored to preserve its heritage while opening its gates to the public as one of Melbourne’s most atmospheric event spaces. Its cathedral-sized shed — with its raw concrete floors, soaring steel trusses, and towering gantry cranes — offers a dramatic backdrop for festivals, exhibitions, performances, and markets. The space is bold, character-filled, and unlike anything else in the city.

Add to that the breathtaking views across the bay to Melbourne’s skyline, and you’ve got the perfect setting for a winter celebration. Imagine sipping mulled wine with fairy lights twinkling overhead, live carols drifting through the air, and the city glowing in the background. It’s Melbourne at its most magical.

A Festive Program Full of Heart (and Fun!)

Christmas in July at Seaworks is more than a market — it’s a full-day festival designed to fill your heart with cheer and your hands with delicious treats and handcrafted treasures.

You’ll find:

Christmas Market Stalls selling everything from handmade gifts and Christmas decorations to artisan homewares and festive baked goods.
A Santa’s Grotto, where kids can meet the jolly man himself, share their Christmas wishes, and snap a photo to remember.
Free activities throughout the day including festive face painting, storytime sessions (at 1:30, 3:30, 5:30 and 7:30 PM), and hands-on Christmas craft where little ones can create their own candy canes, wreaths, and angels.
A delightful “Hunt the Hidden Item” trail, where children can follow clues around the market stalls and earn a prize upon completion.

There are also paid activity zones for even more fun — decorate your own gingerbread person, take home a Santa photo keepsake, or get creative with plaster painting.

Throughout the event, live music and roving performers will bring festive energy to every corner of Seaworks. Expect classic carols, and a lively atmosphere that keeps you smiling all day.

No winter celebration is complete without comfort food — and this event has it all. Food vendors will be serving up seasonal favourites and of course, hot roasted chestnuts that fill the air with their sweet, smoky aroma.

Warm up with a cup of mulled wine or hot chocolate, or head to the beloved Pirates Tavern for a craft beer or a festive drink by the waterfront. Whether you’re tucking into a warm meal or nibbling your way through desserts, there’s no shortage of hearty flavours to enjoy and we will there with our Christmas Flavour.

Our recipe features free-range eggs, organic vanilla, and Canadian Grade A Organic Dark Maple Syrup — all cooked with love and a little holiday cheer.

At Those Little Poffertjes, we bring the theatre of food to life, crafting fresh, golden Dutch pancakes right before your eyes. The sizzle of the batter hitting the hot cast-iron plates, the rich aroma of butter and organic maple syrup melting together, and the sight of delicate poffertjes puffing up to perfection—it’s an irresistible sensory experience. Served piping hot, dusted with pure icing sugar, and topped with a variety of decadent or refreshing flavours—think homemade strawberry coulis, creamy Nutella, or luscious freshly sliced banana, Cream and Biscof —our poffertjes are more than just a dessert; they are an experience. Watching each plate come together adds to the excitement, creating anticipation with every drizzle and dusting.
